Post-bachelor’s Certificate in Creative Writing

Spalding’s post-baccalaureate certificate program in creative writing lets writers experience a semester of study in our low residency Master of Fine Arts in Writing, nationally recognized as a Top 10 program.

The low residency model makes graduate study possible for students with full-time jobs and substantial family commitments. Students are on campus for an intensive ten-day residency; the rest of the semester is completed from home during one-on-one independent study with an MFA faculty mentor.

While the program is open to writers from any walk of life, the certificate presents a specific career advancement opportunity for those in the helping professions—doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists, and others—where creative writing skills are particularly valued. Employers sometimes reimburse educational expenses.
